WASHINGTON, D.C., June 15, 2026 – On April 27, 2026, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) filed a complaint against Schubert Livestock Sales LLC and Todd Schubert of Sarcoxie, Mo., for alleged violations of the Packers and Stockyards (P&S) Act.
A USDA investigation revealed on March 31, 2023, and April 30, 2023, Schubert Livestock Sales and Todd Schubert had custodial account shortages of $73,890 and $102,412 respectively, due in part to custodial account misuse. Between Jan. 5, 2023, and April 28, 2023, Schubert Livestock Sales and Todd Schubert permitted $157,768.48 in bank fees to be charged to its custodial account. In addition, between March 16, 2023, and April 20, 2023, Schubert Livestock Sales and Todd Schubert failed to remit payment timely for 19 livestock transactions in the amount of $24,234. Payments were issued between three and 17 days late. Finally, in 15 transactions, Schubert Livestock Sales and Todd Schubert issued nonsufficient funds checks, in violation of the P&S Act.
The Secretary of Agriculture has authority to take action against violators, including issuing cease and desist orders, suspending registrations, and imposing other remedies authorized by the P&S Act.
