Washington, D.C., May 18, 2026 – On March 2, 2026, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) reached a Consent Decision and Order with Crum Livestock LLC and Connor Crum of Bloomingdale, Ind., settling an administrative complaint USDA filed on April 7, 2025, for alleged violations of the Packers and Stockyards (P&S) Act.
A USDA investigation revealed Crum Livestock failed to pay timely for 11 livestock transactions between August 2022 and January 2023, failed to pay for $9,689 worth of livestock purchased in December 2022, failed to maintain adequate records, and issued nonsufficient funds checks for livestock purchases, in violation of the P&S Act. Crum Livestock issued payment to the unpaid seller on April 7, 2025, after USDA filed its complaint.
Under the Consent Decision and Order, Crum Livestock and Crum were ordered to cease and desist from failing to pay, when due, the full purchase price of livestock, failing to keep and maintain adequate records, and issuing checks without sufficient funds in their bank account. Crum Livestock and Crum also agreed to pay a $5,000 civil penalty.
The Secretary of Agriculture has authority to take action against violators, including issuing cease and desist orders, suspending registrations, and imposing other remedies authorized by the P&S Act.
